NEWS & NOTES

*** The Virginia Legends travel softball organization has been fielding teams since 1985. It currently field nine teams in the following age groups: 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U.

“The Virginia Legends are recognized as a quality program throughout the NCAA Softball community, graduating hundreds of players into collegiate programs since 1985,” Legends coach Heidi Freitager said. “Legend teams travel to tournaments throughout Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, California, Oregon, South Carolina and New York.

“Legend players are widely identified as hard-working, fundamental, and competitive softball players throughout the tournament circuits. Legend players follow a high standard of service, sportsmanship, and dedication. Our current 18U premier team with 16 players has nine committed players to various D1, D2 and D3 colleges.”

Jacie Hambrick made the USA U19 roster.

*** Victor Hambrick is the pitching coach for Rogue FC Kaye 18U, formerly Firecrackers-Arizona.

“The three main pitchers that he has had — Jacie Hambrick, USA U19 (40 player roster), Caitlyn Neal, USA U17, and Raci Miranda, Mexico U17 — have all made Junior National Teams,” Rogue FC coach Randy Kaye said.

***Bill Conroy, the head of the Beverly Bandits organization, is coaching Beverly Bandits 16U Premier-Conroy and Casey Skeens will be coaching Beverly Bandits 18U Premier this season. Skeens, a former player at Eastern Michigan, helped the Bandits win the PGF 16U Premier national title in 2016 and the PGF 18U Premier national championship in 2017. Twelve of the 14 players, who are from four different states, on Skeens’ roster have committed to D1 colleges.

***Atlanta Vipers-Holbrook coach Jason Holbrook is in his 20th and final year as a travel ball coach. “Mudita” is one of Holbrook’s favorite coach’s best sayings. What is “Mudita”? The Buddhist Practice of Sympathetic Joy. Mudita is word from Sanskrit and Pali that has no counterpart in English. It means sympathetic or unselfish joy, or joy in the good fortune of others.

“They all truly love and care about each other and play with an attitude of gratitude for the game and each other,” Holbrook said of this year’s team.

***Tampa Mustangs 16U-Rene released its 2021 summer schedule.
