KNUSSMAN FIRST-EVER MARYMOUNT SOFTBALL COACH
Paige Knussman, a former two-time NFCA Division III All-American at Salisbury College, has been named the first-ever head softball coach at Marymount University, a Division III school in the Atlantic East Conference.
“I want to thank interim Athletic Director Dr. Mike Vienna, Associate AD Jessica Cherry and President Dr. Irma Becerra for the opportunity to be the Head Softball Coach at Marymount University,” Knussman said. “The athletics department culture is outstanding, the facilities are beautiful and the institution is focused on this program succeeding right from the beginning. I couldn’t be more thrilled to shape and lead the first-ever team for the Saints softball program.”
Knussman started her coaching career as both a graduate assistant and assistant coach at her alma mater, Salisbury University. With the Gulls, she mentored a pair of National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Americans, seven NFCA All-Region honorees, 16 All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Team members, and one CAC Player of the Year.
Most recently she was the lead assistant at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC. She immediately took over as the program’s head development coach and had a hand in all aspects of running the team.
In her playing career, she had 192 RBIs, 33 homers, 224 hits and a career batting average of .448. She helped lead Salisbury to three consecutive NCAA College World Series and four NCAA Tournament appearances.
We'd like to extend a warm welcome to the @marymountu family for Paige Knussman, the inaugural head coach for MU Softball! 🥎🥎🥎
