Tell us about club program, All American Sports Academy…
I play for the All American Sports Academy. I started playing travel ball at 6 years old, playing on a local travel team coached by my Dad. I was looking to challenge myself and grow as a player and began playing with another organization and often competed against the All American Sports Academy team and their Coach Shannon Mortimer. I loved the passion she brought to the game and felt her players were always very well coached.

A little over three years ago, I told my dad I wanted to play for Coach Mortimer based on what I had seen, so I tried out for the team and have been with All American Sports Academy ever since 2018. I love my teammates and the relationships we share on and off the field. We all support each other so much and have grown together with the amazing support and teaching of our coaches and our families. They are like family to me.

Jessica is greeted by her teammates after a big home run.

What do you bring to the team?
I am a team leader and have embraced that role since joining the team. The coaches have really shown me how to be a leader on and off the field. I try to be the “quarterback” on the field defensively and motivating to my teammates in the dugout. It is amazing to play with teammates that are always looking to help each other and bring each other up.

What area are you focusing on/trying to improve this summer?
One of the many things my coaches have instilled in me is to be 1 percent better every day. With that philosophy in mind, I work hard on constantly improving my game in all aspects (offensively, defensively and mentally).

Talk about your experiences at Boulder IDT this year…
The IDT was such an amazing experience for my team and me. We got to play in front of a lot of Power 5 college coaches and competed against some of the best 16U teams in the country. I am most proud of the fact that our team battled a lot of adversity (injuries and short handed on players) and still competed in every game. The experience definitely brought us closer as a team and showed us that we haven’t even scratched the surface of what we are capable of.
