There was some Mojo on Mojo friendly fire between two of the top 14U clubs in the nation in the second round of the 14U winner’s bracket at the USA Softball Junior Olympic Cup on Tuesday at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, SC.
Florida-commit Alexia Carrasquillo, #14 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100, had a monster game, going 2 for 4 with two homers and five RBIs as Tennessee Mojo 2024-Ross, #12 in the Extra Elite Eighty 14U Club Rankings, picked up a 10-5 upset over #5 Tennessee Mojo 2023-Danley.
“It’s always great when you can share the field with great competitors,” Mojo 2024 coach Jay Ross said. “Mojo 2023 (a two-time PGF champion) is the standard of great teams and today we were fortunate to come out on top. We pitched well, put a lot of balls in play and the defense kept them from a big inning. Alexia Carrasquillo had two big home runs, the first was a three-run missle that gave us the lead and we held on from there. Once they get Ashtyn Danley back, the tables could be turned. She is a difference maker and sets the tone for that team.”
Jace Jackson had a two-run single and Anna Roman had a sacrifice fly to stake Mojo 2023 to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
Carrasquillo’s three-run blast to left field highlighted a four-run rally in the top of the third and gave Mojo 2024 the lead for the remainder of the game.
McCall Sims also had a big game for Mojo 2024, going 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Grace Jones pitched three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and striking out three to pick up the save.

Indiana Fusion Elite-Pinkston 10, Birmingham Vipers-Standifer 5: Jasmine Miller went 2 for 4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBIs, Jaelyn Sanders went 2 for 4 with a double, a homer, two runs scored and three RBIs, Carson Goatley went 2 for 3 with a homer and Taryn Weddle went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a run scored for Indiana Fusion, which used an eight-run rally in the top of the fifth to put the #68 Vipers away.
Wildfire-Paulson 8, Carolina Elite-Genovese 1: Charli Warren went 3 for 4 with a stolen base and three runs scored, Olivia Lipari went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs, Jadeyn Ruszkowski went 1 for 4 with two RBIs and Morgan Shannon allowed four hits, a run and struck out six in seven innings to lead the Wildfire.
Carolina Cardinals-Chandler 12, Lady Lightning Gold-Pedy 3: Anesia Jordan went 2 for 3 with a triple, two runs scored and four RBIs and Carlie Myrtle went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, a run scored and four RBIs as the Cardinals run-ruled LLG.
Ohio Outlaws-Hoffner 1, Firecrackers NC-Wright 0: Madison Roukey pitched a five-hit shutout with five strikeouts to propel the Outlaws.
PA Chaos-Spina 8, Premier Fastpitch-Paulson 7: Megan Herka delivered a two-run bomb to center field and Kaitlin Houser added an RBI single during a three-run rally in the top of the 10th and #14 PA Chaos held on to defeat Premier Fastpitch.
TN Fury-Sargent 5, Ohio Hawks Gold-Joseforsky 3: Tori York went 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs for the Fury.
