Tennesse Mojo 2024-Ross, #12 in the Extra Elite Eighty 14U Club Rankings, might be the walking wounded and it might have a short-handed pitching staff, but the Mojo continued to win at the USA Softball Junior Olympic Cup on Wednesday at Tyger River Park in Duncan, SC.

The Mojo rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth to beat #25 Tampa Mustangs-Rene, 3-2, on a walk-off in the third round of the 14U winner’s bracket.

“Good thing is that the wild animal fights it’s hardest to survive when injured,” Mojo coach Jay Ross said. “You can never discount the fight and love these kids have for each other. You just can never count them out and they are proving that thus far.”

With one out and runners on second and third, Grace Jones hit a flair to shallow left field. Tampa’s left fielder charged hard, but came it dropped in for a hit and the ball squirted away from the shortstop, allowing Alexia Carrasquillo to score the tying run from third and Mia Brown to score the winning run from second to give the Mojo the victory.

Jones also pitched seven innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and striking out four to record the win for the Mojo.
