Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? My dad, Jake Lindley, is my current travel coach and has been since I was 6 years old. After coaching for five years with a different organization, he wanted to move to an organization that was nationally recognized to give his players a better opportunity to be seen. Mark Lloyd and the Indiana Gators welcomed my dad with open arms. In only our second season as the Indiana Gators, we became a PREMIER team and Director Mark Lloyd also added his name to our team. I love every one of my teammates and they all are amazing ball players as well as great friends of mine. Our coaching staff is pretty special too! Jake Lindley is the most passionate coach and has a love for every one of his players and it’s pretty awesome to see the love my teammates have for my dad. Our team is a force to be reckoned with and we will play a national schedule starting in June.

Tell us about your high school team and how you are doing? My high school varsity team is a young squad with zero seniors and five freshman starters, including myself. We are hoping to make a run in the postseason as they did last season when they were crowned Sectional champions. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my freshman campaign as I am the starting varsity pitcher, and have broken the doubles record. I am grateful that I get to play with my classmates and my cousin, Caprice McCalister. She is our varsity right fielder, who saves my butt from time to time with her phenomenal catches!

Jayleigh Lindley of Indiana Gators.

Can you tell us about your experience at Alliance Nationals last summer? We haven’t had the pleasure of getting to go out to California yet, but this team and our coach expects nothing less than getting there next year in 16U. We will also try to qualify for the Alliance Nationals this spring and hopefully get to compete in Indianapolis.

What tournaments/showcases/events are you looking forward to this summer and why? The (Triple Crown) Colorado Sparkler first of all because we are in the supplemental power pools and are ready to work our way into the power pools and make a statement! Then, the Atlanta Legacy Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia, so we can win some prize money and take a team shopping trip, lol!

Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? I would have to say the Beverly Bandits-Hardin team. We went 9 innings against them, including two international tiebreakers in bracket play at the PGF Music City Showdown and won, but just came up short to them in the championship game. That team is loaded with talent from top to bottom and can smack a ball.

Jayleigh Lindley of West Vigo High.

What are you looking for in a future college? I want to go away to somewhere beautiful that takes me out of my comfort zone, but that is still family-oriented and offers my major.

What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I would love to become an Interior Designer because I love to decorate and put new ideas together to come up with something beautiful for people.

Who is your sports hero and why? Although I’ve never played basketball, I would have to say Larry Bird because he came from a small town in Indiana like me and went and did something big. My high school number is also 33 and people call me JBird.

What’s the best hype song and why? Nelly’s “I am #1” because my travel ball number has always been #1 since I was 8 years old and it just fits.

What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? Definitely, “Outer Banks” (OBX) because the characters just make it interesting

Do you have a secret talent/skill? I love to bake/design cakes in my spare time.
