THE LAST INNING MINI-Q&A

Name: RYAN TAYLOR
Hometown: Various, from the Midwest.
High School: WRHS
College: Arizona State
Club Team: Aces Fastpitch Club

Can you talk about your athletic background and how you got involved with softball?
Multiple sport athlete growing up, went to college for wrestling. Fastpitch was really big for men in the 80s and 90s throughout the Midwest. I got pulled in through lessons and coaching with Dads. When they got out of it, I kept going. I do everything 110 percent and here we are today.

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
It’s been so fun to see it evolve. When we started, I had no idea it would end up where we are today. The goal was to help players grow their game. As an organization we’re very focused on PD. The second part was to help PSA obtain scholarship opportunities.

What is something you have faced in your life that has helped you become the person that you are today?
I wouldn’t say anything specific, it’s more a body of work. Athletics has been a huge part of my personal development. You face adversity and learn how you want to handle it. My dad passed away a few weeks before my wedding, which had a huge impact on me.

What’s something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I love to be outdoors, especially with my family. We like to hunt and ride horses. With all that spare time we don’t have, you can find us there.

Do you have a secret talent/skill?
Secret talent, not really. I ride a horse decently and enjoy competing in events.

What’s the best TV show to binge?
“Homeland.”
