Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
I currently play for the OC Batbusters Lara/Portesi 16U travel team. We have a large roster of approximately 20 players. The coaches really make it work as everyone gets a fair chance to earn a spot in the starting lineup. Before playing on this team, I spoke to many players and coaches about this team and went to see them play a few times. I liked the way the coaches interacted with the players and how they communicated with the players. The experience has been a positive one for me.

Can you talk about your experience at Santa Margarita High and how you have been doing as a freshman?
Santa Margarita HS has definitely made me feel welcome. It is a great academic and athletic school. SM understands the athlete’s commitment and helps us anyway they can to succeed and to have a great experience.

We play in the Trinity League, which is very competitive. I am so grateful to be our starting center fielder on the varsity squad. Batting first was an adjustment, but I try to do what I can to help our team. High School has been great so far and I am looking forward to the next three years.

Can you talk about representing Team Mexico in the Triple Crown International Challenge and what you hope to accomplish at the event?
This is a great honor to represent Team Mexico 16U in this summer’s TCS International Challenge. My main goal is to enjoy the experience, make new friends and to better understand and share my Mexican heritage with my teammates. I am so proud to be chosen to play on this team.
