SCOUTING REPORT: NEBRASKA GOLD 16U NATIONAL-GROFF
TLI will be taking a look at some of the top teams from across the nation as the fall season heats up.
Today we take a look at Aaron Groff’s team, Nebraska Gold 16U National.
Here are the team’s summer record/top finishes:
- 3rd at Top Gun Discovery
- 5th in Maverick Division at Top Gun Invitational
- 5th at USA Elite Select Nationals
What will it take for your team to be successful this season?
We need to push the pace in the offseason. We need to make gains both athletically and in our softball skill sets.
Who is your No. 1 pitcher and what can you tell us about her skills? Who else could see some time in the circle?
LHP Maddia Groff, who is a top 40 pitcher in the 2023 Extra Inning Rankings. Maddia has accumulated over 400 strikeouts in the summer and high school seasons combined. Desi Cuevas is a LHP who is also a highly-effective athlete in the circle who knows how to compete.
RETURNERS:
- Maddia Groff (2023, P, #50 in 2023 Extra Inning 100, the southpaw generates a high number of strikeouts)
- Katherine Johnson (2023, OF, #131 in Class of 2023, hits for tremendous power)
- Haley Wilwerding (2023, CI/OF, #200 in Class of 2023, an athlete who plays corners and outfield at a high level and always a very tough out)
- Desi Cuevas (2023, P/OF, #242 in Class of 2023, an athletic outfielder who led the team in HRs)
- Rylinn Groff (2023, C, #355 in Class of 2023, an athletic catcher with high level pop time and gap-to-gap hitter)
- Lynn Davis (2023, OF, #359 in Class of 2023, an extremely high level outfielder who steals outs)
- Maddie McGee (2023, 3B, #390 in Class of 2023, plays fast and has high level arm strength)
- Taylor Sedlacek (2022, SS, hits for power and is garnering attention from numerous Division 1 programs)
- Dani Schlader (2022, OF, should explode on the scene this high school season hitting .544)
- Kelsey Pauli (2022, OF, athletic corners player who also hits for power)
NEWCOMER:
- Jayci Reimers (2023, MIF, has a tremendous hitter with high softball IQ who competes extremely hard in all facets of the game)
