How I learned To Trust My Work and Lean On Others
I was a freshman shortstop at the University of Louisiana Monroe, and by most standards, I had a strong start. I hit .355 my first year, then .379 as a sophomore, broke the school’s single-season OBP record with .561, tied the most hit-by-pitches with 25, and earned Second Team All-Sun Belt and NFCA All-Region honors.
But then came junior year—and everything changed.
In this feature, I reflect on my struggle with performance pressure, how I placed my worth in stats, the mental health wake-up call I didn’t see coming, and the support systems that ultimately helped me rediscover joy in the game.
Keep reading to learn how I found peace, purpose, and perspective far beyond the numbers.
