While our mission is to empower, inspire, and support female athletes, there are moments when the softball community is called to do something even more important—stand beside the families and loved ones of players who have been taken far too soon.
Today, we pause to honor the life of 14-year-old, Jalee Anderson, a young softball player whose passing has left a deep impact on her community and on the sport she loved.
The accident took place in Utah County following an off-highway vehicle rollover involving a group of teens on January 26, 2026.
Jalee was critically injured while riding with friends in western Utah County and was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital. She passed away Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, from her injuries.

According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement, six teenagers were involved in the crash. One passenger was ejected from the vehicle and transported by Life Flight to a Salt Lake County Hospital. Another teen suffered broken bones and is expected to recover.
The remaining teens were not seriously injured but are now coping with the devastating loss of their friend. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the rollover.

Jalee was a student at Payson Junior High School and a softball player, remembered by those closest to her as a sweet, kind, and joyful young athlete. Her aunt confirmed she was riding with friends at the time of the accident.
In the wake of this tragedy, the Genola community has come together to support the Anderson family. Funeral services were held on January 22, 2026, in Genola, Utah where loved ones gathered to honor Jalee’s life and legacy. A GoFundMe page has also been created to assist the family during this incredibly difficult time.
The Extra Inning Softball calls upon the softball community nationwide to surround this family with compassion, prayers, and support during their time of mourning.

On behalf of our Extra Inning Softball team, we extend our deepest condolences to the Anderson family during this unimaginable time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jalee’s loved ones, teammates, and community as they grieve this profound loss. If there is anything we can do to offer support, please do not hesitate to contact us. ![]()
