The Valley Invite softball tournament will once again bring elite youth fastpitch programs to the Pacific Northwest as teams travel to Portland, Oregon, June 19–21, 2026 for one of the most established and respected events in regional softball. Organized by Triple Crown Sports, the tournament continues a decades-long tradition of competitive play, college exposure, and community-driven growth.
At Extra Inning Softball, we highlight the tournaments that help shape the landscape of youth fastpitch across the country. Few events carry the history and scale of the Valley Invite, which has grown into the largest youth softball tournament in the Pacific Northwest.
With 250 teams competing across 52 fields and nearly 700 games played in just two days, the Valley Invite has become a cornerstone event for club programs seeking high-level competition and recruiting opportunities.

A Tournament Built on Tradition
The Valley Invite traces its roots back to 1992, when four teams unexpectedly created their own tournament after an ASA event in Beaverton, Oregon, was canceled. Rather than allowing the weekend to go to waste, those teams gathered at Valley Catholic High School and organized their own games.
What started as a small improvisation quickly grew into something much larger.
Over the years, additional fields were added through partnerships with Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District and Hillsboro Parks & Recreation, allowing the event to expand and accommodate more teams.
Today, the Valley Invite spans over 50 playing fields throughout the Portland area, making it one of the most extensive tournament operations in youth softball.

National Competition in the Northwest
The event now welcomes teams from across the United States and Canada, with programs traveling from 10 different states to compete.
Divisions range from 10U through 18U, creating a weekend where athletes at every stage of development can compete against strong competition.
The scale of the event alone makes it a unique experience for athletes, coaches, and families. Hundreds of games take place simultaneously across the Portland region, creating a festival-style atmosphere centered on fastpitch softball.
For many teams in the region, the Valley Invite has become a summer tradition and a must-play tournament.

College Camps and Recruiting Exposure
One of the standout features of the Valley Invite is the opportunity for players to gain direct college exposure before tournament play even begins.
On Friday prior to the start of games, the event hosts multiple college-run camps, allowing athletes to train and showcase their skills with collegiate coaching staffs.
Programs such as the University of Oregon and the University of Washington have previously participated, giving players the chance to interact with coaches from major Division I programs.
In total, 10 college camps will take place leading into the tournament weekend, adding an important recruiting dimension for players in the older age divisions.
For many athletes, this combination of camps and high-level tournament play creates a valuable opportunity to both learn and compete.

Unique Experience for Teams and Fans
The Valley Invite also continues to expand the overall experience beyond the softball field.
In 2026, the tournament will partner with the new AUSL professional softball team, Cascade, to host a home series during the tournament weekend. Teams attending the Valley Invite will have access to discounted tickets to attend the professional games, allowing players to watch elite-level softball while participating in their own tournament.
This connection between youth, collegiate, and professional softball helps create a full-circle experience for athletes attending the event.
