With first pitch of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games exactly one year away, members of the 2019 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) arrived in Lafayette, Louisiana, home of the Ragin’ Cajuns, as the team continues preparation for the 2019 Pan American Games.

Team USA will face Scrap Yard Fast Pitch, an independent professional softball team, in a three-game series in Lafayette, La. before heading to Houston, Texas for another three-game set.

“I was really happy with the way we came back from the break after the USA Softball International Cup,” said USA Softball WNT Head Coach, Ken Eriksen (Tampa, Fla./Head Coach at South Florida).

“The things we learned and gained during our first leg of the summer stuck with us, which we saw come to fruition in Columbus. To have the training and exhibition games against Scrap Yard Fast Pitch is obviously extremely beneficial to our team. We’re going to face great competition and some of the best players in the country and we need that challenge prior to heading to Peru.”
