Since the 7th grade, one of Northern California’s top recruits has been Jenna Birch, who last Friday became one of a growing number of recruits who pulled the trigger in committing to their university of choice in advance of the start Wednesday of the NCAA-mandated no-contact rule until Sept. 1 of a prospect’s junior year.
Rated by Extra Inning Softball as one of the Elite 100 players in the 2022 class, Jenna has had colleges from all over the nation following her because of her athleticism and five-tool skills plus a rare fiery competitiveness that you rarely see in someone so young.
Her California Breeze 14U team is rated by us as one of the Top 25 in the nation in large part to the new Beavers commit, who has great softball DNA as her mother, Jennifer Birch (Sherman), pitched at Oklahoma.
Her mother has been a key cog in the 8th grader’s development including coaching her in the Breeze organization and Jenna shares a hilarious story about a bet her mother made that she would soon come to regret… let’s just say it had something to do with a tattoo!

1. When and how did you officially commit to the Beavers?
I committed on Friday, April 20 and was fortunate enough to be able to tell Coach (Laura) Berg in person. My family and I traveled up to Corvallis to watch them play Oklahoma.
