2022 Pan Am Women’s Championship: Aubrey Leach’s Home Run, Double Sparks USA to 9-2 Game 1 Win Over Argentina

Highlighting Game 1 of the 2022 Pan Am Women’s Championship: Aubrey Leach hit a home run and double and scored twice to spark USA to 9-2 Game 1 win over Argentina.

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – The USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) kicked off the Pan American Championship today with a 9-2 (six innings) run-rule win over Argentina, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance at the plate from first-time WNT member, Aubrey Leach.

The pitching staff of Rachel Garcia and Mariah Mazon took control in the circle with Garcia setting the tone through the first four innings followed by two innings from Mazon to seal the win for Team USA.

Team USA returns to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT against Venezuela followed by matchups against Puerto Rico (Nov. 14 at 8:30 p.m. CT) and Costa Rica (Nov. 15 at 12:45 p.m. CT).

The Eagles will round out pool play with a double header on Wednesday, Nov. 16 against El Salvador (12:45 p.m. CT) and Brazil (3:30 p.m. CT) while the Playoff and Medal Rounds will follow Nov. 17-19.
