On Friday (Nov. 11., 2022), the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced 50 student-athletes from 29 programs have received 2022 NFCA High School Summer/Fall All-Region accolades in softball.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from two (Region I & II) of the Association’s 10 regions with 1st and 2nd team selections.
NFCA member head coaches from each respective region voted on the teams. All student-athletes now become eligible for the 2023 NFCA High School All-America squads, which will be voted on and include the 2023 Spring All-Region honorees.
The two regions comprise of high schools from the states of Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma, who compete in either the fall or summer.
Piedmont High School (Okla.) out of Region II led all programs with five All-Region honors, which included three on the first team. Region I’s Rock Bridge High School (Mo.), all first teamers, and Blue Springs South High School (Mo.) each received four nods, while Region II’s Pope High School (Ga.) took home three plaudits. Nine programs each had two student-athletes honored.
Blue Springs South, Pope, Collins-Maxwell High School (Iowa) and Washington High School (Okla.) earned two first-team accolades apiece.
NFCA High School All-Region and All-America student-athletes must be nominated by their NFCA-member head coach. All-Region is voted on by their respective region’s member head coaches, and All-Americans are voted on by the entire high school membership.
