2023 Extra Elite 100 Candidate: Bella Cabral… Great Player, “Even Better Friend, Sister and Teammate!”

Bella Cabral was named All-State this week in Alabama although her season was ended after 10 games due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

With the 2025 Extra Elite 100 behind us, it’s time to move to the next class to be profiled… the Class of 2023! We’ll be announcing later this week the exact schedule for the updated rankings for these soon-to-be sophomores.

Bella has been a starter since the 8th grade in softball and basketball.

In the meantime, we’ll begin profiling some who have attracted our attention and that of top college programs across the nation, including today’s spotlight athlete, Bella Cabral, a shortstop/third baseman from Fairhope, Alabama.

Bella is the third in her immediate family to play softball, following in the footsteps of her mother, Sabrina, who played at St. Greg’s University, an NAIA school in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and her older sister Lyric, who is a catcher at South Alabama.

Although her freshman season this spring was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bella was honored this week as an AL.com All-State Terrific 20 selection at Class 7A after she batted .581 with 18 hits in 10 games, 15 runs scored, 17 RBIs, an on-base percentage of .618 and a fielding percentage of .923.

That following her 8th grade season when Bella started every game on the softball field at shortstop and on the basketball court running the point for the Fairhope (Alabama) Lady Pirates.

At the club level, she had a great summer in 2019 as she batted .401 at the Colorado Sparkler Power Pool Tourney and hit .396 at PGF.  Currently, she’s with JC Yeatts‘ Oklahoma Athletics 16U team which was ranked #13 in the Extra Elite Eighty Club Rankings earlier this year.

The team was formed when Yeatts’’ Oklahoma Hotshots, which finished 5ith at the PGF 14U Premier Nationals in 2019, combined with Mike Madden’s Oklahoma Athletics to form what looks like a very formidable team that should make noise in 16U at all national events.

Bella can play short or third and is a key reason the Oklahoma A’s are a top-ranked 16U team.

Along with Bella, the Athletics’ roster features 2022 pitcher Ashanti McDade, who throws in the upper 60s and packs a big punch at the plate, 2022 catcher Lily West, who is one of the top defensive catchers in her class, 2022 catcher/first baseman Chloe Yeatts, a great glove, clutch hitter and 2019 PGF 14U Premier All-Tournament Team selection along with new additions including Oklahoma-committed 2022 lefty pitcher Savannah Geurin, a 5-foot-10 game changer ranked #4 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, Oklahoma State-committed 2022 infielder/outfielder Kaydee Bennett, a fantastic athlete with track speed and the ability to beat you with a bunt or a dinger, and 2022 outfielder Gabrielle Higbee, another lefty speedster with HR power.

From a scouting perspective, Bella is a smooth fielder with a strong arm and good power at the plate. She has had her exit velocity clocked at 76 mph recently as well as having her overhand velocity clocked at 68 mph. Said one coach, “Her power at the plate combined with her overhand velo and ability to throw from every arm slot makes hear a very exciting kid to watch.”

Athletics Assistant Coach Lance West describes Bella as “a gritty powerhouse with unlimited power at the plate.” He continues: “Add the super smooth moves at shortstop and the tough-as-nails plays at third that have caught plenty of eyes and plenty of attention from college coaches and you have yourself what one college coach described as a Top 10 2023 in her class and a Power 5-type kid all day long.”

Coach West adds:  “Aside from being an exceptional athlete, Bella is an even better friend, sister and teammate. She is one of a kind with a heart of gold and an infectious laugh that fills a room.”
