What the Nomination Numbers Tell Us
The numbers tell a much bigger story than which organizations currently sit at the top of the nomination leaderboard.
They show the national reach of the Class of 2028.
Athletes from programs throughout the country are entering the evaluation pool, representing different regions, competition levels and organizational structures.
But the number of nominations belonging to an organization does not influence where its athletes will ultimately rank.
Playing for a nationally recognized organization does not guarantee a high ranking, just as playing for a smaller or regional organization does not prevent an athlete from earning national recognition.
Rankings Meet MyEIS360™ Athlete Profiles
The rankings process no longer ends with an athlete’s name appearing on a list.
MyEIS360™ Athlete Profiles give athletes a centralized place to build upon the recognition they receive through Extra Inning Softball.
Profiles can include an athlete’s:
- Bio
- Awards
- EIS Rankings
- Schedule
- Highlights
- Media Vault
- Measurables
- Featured Video
- Recruiting Dashboard
- Additional athlete information
MyEIS360™ athlete profiles are free for anyone to view, including college coaches. An Extra Inning Softball membership is required for an athlete to have and manage a profile. Request your MyEIS360™ athlete profile today.
The SERV™ Methodology
The SERV™ Methodology brings structure and consistency to the EIS rankings process. Software organizes athlete data and performance information; Evaluate assesses skills, athleticism and competition level; Research examines each athlete’s body of work; and Verify ensures information is reviewed before rankings are finalized.
Together, SERV™ helps create a comprehensive evaluation that goes beyond name recognition.
What Happens After an Athlete Is Nominated?
Submitting a nomination does not mean an athlete has already earned a ranking position.
It means she has officially entered the Class of 2028 evaluation pool.
Once nominations close, the Extra Inning Softball Rankings Committee continues its evaluation and research process using the SERV™ Methodology.
For the Class of 2028, every properly nominated athlete will receive a Regional ranking, a Hitters ranking and will also be evaluated for inclusion among the National Extra Elite 100 Overall Athletes.
The National Extra Elite 100 Overall Athletes represent the highest level of recognition within the Class of 2028 rankings, evaluating athletes across positions to identify the top players in the class.
There are no ties. Every ranked athlete receives her own numerical placement.
Committed or Uncommitted—Why Nomination Still Matters
One of the most important messages surrounding the Class of 2028 rankings is that nominations are not limited to uncommitted athletes.
Already committed?
Nominate.
Still navigating the recruiting process?
Nominate.
Rankings become part of an athlete’s historical body of work. College programs, media outlets and others throughout the softball community can refer back to previous rankings long after they were originally published.
Oct. 5 Is the Final Deadline
The Extra Inning Softball Class of 2028 nomination window is almost closed, and hundreds of athletes nationwide have already entered the evaluation pool.
Is your athlete on the nomination list? If not, contact her coach and make sure she is submitted before Monday, Oct. 5 at midnight. No late nominations will be accepted.
