We’ve been a fan of Coach Camille Hayes of the Pa Strikers since we saw her lead the 14U team to a top 5 finish last year at PGF Nationals.
Her teams–like the coach herself–are passionate, fun-loving, energetic and humble and with a good mix of 2020’s, 2021’s and 2022’s, will always compete to the end.
With outstanding juniors on her PA Strikers National Team like committed infielder/outfielders Dani Hayes (Penn State) and Kayla Tauber (Drexel), plus still-available talents such as shortstop Brianna Peck, who is getting major Power 5 interest, third baseman Taylor Posner, who is hearing from ACC and Big Ten programs and 6-foot first baseman Morgan Twaddell, who had a great summer and is drawing attention from several schools, Hayes has a very vested interest in what happens starting Sunday, September 1st when college coaches can reach out to her 2021’s.
After reading our article yesterday titled Recruiting Perspective: Why September 1 is So Important… & How It Will Change For Future Grad Classes the coach wrote a very nice email last night sharing her thoughts on this topic:
“It’s 11:15 EST and I just got done with some work,” she began. “As I got ready to climb into bed, I wanted to find info to share with my 2021s about what to expect on 9/1! Where better to go than Extra Inning Softball, right? And, sure enough, you nailed it!”
“I got goosebumps as I read the wonderful article the first two times and then got a little weepy the 3rd time I read it! I can’t believe this day is finally here! These girls have worked so hard! I am so excited for them, but secretly nervous too!”
“Of course, I sent the article to my players to read… so thank you! You just made all my phone calls to them tomorrow so much easier. Have a great night and enjoy all the excitement headed your way too!”
Hayes has a half-dozen juniors on her team, which was a first-year 16U squad in 2018-19.
Regarding how the recruiting will play out with college coaches starting to make contact as of Sunday, the club coach says she and her 2021’s are “just so uncertain for what September 1 will bring.”
