For Adelaide Joaquin, a Class of 2027 catcher and utility player with Breakers Labs Lara 18U, the trajectory of her summer changed instantly. During an at-bat on June 21, 2025, a pitch inside struck her knee, resulting in a severe injury that included a dislocated kneecap, a torn MPFL, and a fractured patella.
As Joaquin told Extra Inning Softball,
“That moment completely changed my summer and season,”
Instead of competing with her travel team and representing Great Britain’s 18U National Team, she faced surgery and a long recovery process.
