Club News: Scott Norwood’s 14U Team That Finished 3rd At PGF Has Joined Louisville Lady Sluggers

The new Huecker-Norwood 16U team having fun and being #BetterTogether.

There is major movement going on now that nationals are over as coaches and players are making moves to other teams and organizations.

Scott Norwood, the coach of the highly talented 14U team that finished 3rd in the Premier division this past weekend, will be joining the Louisville Lady Sluggers organization and starting a 16U team that will also have Lady Sluggers President, Jim Huecker, as a co-head coach.

Huecker released the news on social media today, beginning with the phrase:

“New chapter. New name. Same TEAM. #bettertogether”

Standout 2026 pitcher Maggie Krause in her new colors.

He continued:

“I’m beyond excited to welcome such a highly successful championship team to our great Slugger organization! I’m a true fan of the game and I’ve followed this team from afar and I’m impressed with everything they embody.”

“I look forward to working alongside Coach Norwood and continue the path to excellence that this group is certain to achieve!”

“Coach Scott, Coach Josh (VanMeter) and Coach Jenn (Harty) and have developed this team to the elite level and that development has prepared them for their future successes.”

The Bandits team under Coach Norwood this summer was composed of 10 players in the 2026 class and three in the 2027 including the head coach’s daughter, Courtney Norwood, who is a right-handed pitcher and first baseman.

The other young players from that 2027 class were catcher Adelle Metz and third baseman Payton Dye.

The pitching staff was impressively strong at PGF led by lefty Maggie Krause and Sadie Binkley and the defense consisted of infielders Annie Newman,  Jaylee VanMeter, Molly Hancock, Kloie Smith, outfielders Molly Southall, Brynley Erb and Jaycie Harty and catcher Kendall Brown.

Coach Norwood says the move “just felt right.”

“It was time to come back home to Kentucky,” he explained. With the deep rich roots of the Slugger organization, it fit our team’s personality and family values. The team made a unanimous decision to switch organizations, as we as a team live by our motto: Bettertogether!”

Under Norwood, the team has had great success at all age levels:

  • 10U Premier – 5th place
  • 12U Premier – 1st place
  • 14U Platinum – 1st place
  • 14U Premier – 3rd place

Both sides see this move as being beneficial for everyone.

Coach Huecker concluded:

“I’m looking forward to the (new) coaches continued guidance wearing the Slugger name and honored to coach with them all.”
