Many of the top teams in the country went to USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex this week for the USA Softball JO Cup in this week in Oklahoma City, OK. Here are Saturday’s highlights (All rankings Extra Elite Eighty Club Rankings):

STARS NATIONAL KNOCKS OFF LLG DPS IN 18U FINAL
Uncommitted 2022 OF Tabitha Thorpe had an RBI single, UMBC-bound OF Jo Torrens had an RBI triple and #25 Stars National-Coleman/Belfield added two unearned runs in the top of the eighth to beat #31 LLG DPS-Corn, 7-3, in the 18U final at the USA Softball JO Cup on Saturday in Oklahoma City, OK.
Purdue-bound IF Rita Nuss went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, James Madison-bound C/3B Bella Henzler went 2 for 4 with a run, Thorpe went 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI, Towson-committed 2023 P/OF Taylor Broadbent went 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI, Torrens went 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI to lead Stars National’s offense in the championship game.
Gardner Webb-bound P Kaylyn Kyle allowed three hits, three runs, a walk and struck out five in eight innings to record the complete game win for Stars National.
Stars National beat Clearwater Bullets-Klinefelter, 4-0, Epic Premier-Sydney, 4-2, Oklahoma Force-Coil, 10-1, Clearwater Bullets-Klinefelter, 13-1, and LLG DPS-Corn, 7-3, in bracket play.
“It was a complete team effort as we battled 100-degree heat with only 11 student-athletes all bracket play,” Stars National coach Rachel Coleman said.
Kyle, Broadbent, 2024 Bella Nunn and 2023 Kohana Pousson all threw for Stars National with a team ERA of 1.20 for the week.
Stars National had a team batting average of .379 with an OBP of .399. UNCW-committed 2023 SS/UT Ava Tsiouplis (.409 AVG, .435 OBP), Broadbent (.480 AVG), Henzler (.464 AVG, 1.179 OPS), Lipscomb-bound OF Kaylyn Belfield (.433 AVG, .452 OBP), Nuss (.423 AVG), Torrens (.417 AVG, 1.023 OPS), Thorpe (.364 AVG) and Lipscomb-bound MIF/UT Briyana Wright (.300 AVG, 1.000 fielding percentage in 30 attempts) led Stars National’s offense for the week.

TURNIN2-PEZZ TAKES DOWN TURNIN2-MALONEY IN 16U FINAL
2024 1B Macy Chamberlin went 3 for 3 with a double and five RBIs to Turnin2-Pezz run-rule #39 Turnin2-Maloney, 10-2, in the 16U final at the USA Softball JO Cup on Saturday in Oklahoma City, OK.
Indiana-committed 2023 SS Aly VanBrandt went 2 for 3 with three runs, 2023 IF/OF Brooklyn Pitz went 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI, Chamberlin had three hits and five RBIs, 2024 LF Ashley Bila went 2 for 3 with an RBI and 2023 3B Natalie Savage went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs for Tunrin2-Pezz’s offense in the championship game.
Turnin2-Pezz’s pitching staff only gave up six runs in eight games for the tournament. Central Michigan-committed 2023 P Brooklyn Compau (0.81 ERA, 26.0 IP, 27 Ks) and 2023 P Brooklyn Patchen (0.30 ERA, 23.0 IP, 28 Ks) led the pitching staff.
Bila (.450 AVG, .476 OBP), 2024 C/IF/OF Tori Briggs (.444 AVG, .450 OBP), Patchen (.429 AVG, .478 OBP) and VanBrandt (.429 AVG, .500 OBP) were Turnin2-Pezz’s leading hitters for the tournament.
Turnin2-Pezz beat Epic Premier-Vickrey, 6-0, Illusions Premier, 8-0, Oklahoma Athletics 05 National-Madden/Patterson, 4-1, Rock Gold-Manetta/Peratoni, 10-0, and Turnin2-Maloney, 10-2, in bracket play.
