A week ago in Viera, Florida, many top teams from across the nation—especially California—participated in the Wilson Fastpitch Championship Series

The results were interesting: all three age divisions—18U, 16U and 14U were won by teams from the South as the Atlanta Vipers team coached by Jason Holbrook took 18U while the younger age divisions were captured by teams from Brooks Cherry’s Tennessee organization.
Was it an anomaly, that a Georgia team and a pair from Tennessee outlasted and outplayed Cali and Texas teams?
You can make a strong case that the talent in the South is definitely comparable with prospects from anywhere in the country and these Wilson-sponsored teams did nothing to dispel that idea.
