Event Preview: Wilson Fastpitch Championship Series This Weekend Features Top Nationally-Invited Club Teams

This weekend, 38 top club teams from 15 states will participate in the Wilson Fastpitch Championship Series to be held at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Florida.

The event starts Friday, Nov. 15 with pool games in the age divisions of 18U, 16U and 14U and concludes with championship games on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The Championship Series—which is sanctioned and operated by USA Elite Select—will feature Wilson-sponsored teams from 15 states ranging from California to Texas to New York and, of course, several representing the home state of Florida.

Making the field ultra-competitive are several top programs from California, especially in the 18U age division, including title-winning teams like Dave Mercado’s Athletics, Mike Stith’s OC Batbusters, Tony Rico’s Firecrackers and Marty Tyson’s Corona Angels squads that should ramp up the competitive juices of all teams at all levels.

The Wilson Fastpitch Championship Series is a Who’s Who of Extra Elite Eighty club teams and is also filled with dozens of Extra Elite 100 standout players.

The event has several other factors that make it unique and a fun one to watch:

• One, the teams were invited by legendary Michigan pitcher and National Champion Jennie Ritter, who selected the participating teams in behalf of Wilson where she oversees softball. All teams participating are sponsored by Wilson/DeMarini/Louisville Slugger.
• Two, all the games will be live streamed and viewable to the public on USSSALive.com.
• Three, the 16U and 14U champions will receive a fully-funded sponsorship from Wilson for 2020.
• Four, the coaches, players and attending families will get to enjoy the “Florida Fall Festival” competition that will involve the USSSA Pride pro team and the college powers of Florida and Florida State playing against each other Friday night and Saturday during the afternoon.

• — USSSA Pride vs. Florida Gators, Friday, Nov. 15 @ 7:30 pm EST
• — Florida vs. Florida State, Saturday, Nov. 16 @ 1:00 pm EST
• — USSSA Pride vs. Florida State, Saturday, Nov. 16 @ 3:30 pm EST

“This event is going to be one of the most competitive events of the year, especially at the 18U division,” agrees Jami Lobries, the National Director of USSSA Fastpitch.
