Year 2 of the Alliance Fastpitch Open Nationals (“AFON”) promises to provide another great experience for players, coaches and their families as the event will run from July 25 – July 30 in beautiful Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Last year, 85 teams from all over the nation competed—representing the eight Alliance Leagues… here’s a highlight clip of the action from the initial championships:
The Summer of ’23 will once again see teams from the ages of 10U up through 18U battle for prize packages offered the champions, runners-up and Top 4 finishing teams in each age division.
“This event offers an experience like no other,” says Event Director Madison Crownover.
“From the Opening Ceremonies to the interactive brackets all the way to the championship games, this event is high energy for all involved!”
The festivities and fun kick off on July 25th with college camps held from 10 am to 2 pm EST at Warner Park. Later that day, the teams will check in and also enjoy the Opening Ceremonies before pool play begins on Tuesday, July 26th and wraps up on Wednesday, July 27th.
Bracket play begins on Friday, July 28th and each team will be guaranteed five games minimum as bracket competition ends on Saturday, July 29th prior to the championships being held on the final day, Sunday July 30th.
All games will be held at Warner Park (six fields), The Summit of Softball (eight fields), Camp Jordan (12 fields), and Jack Mattox Softball Complexes (seven fields).
And what is there to do when teams aren’t on the field?
“Being one of the top outdoor tourist destination cities in the country,” Crownover continues, “Chattanooga has so much to offer from the mountains that have trails for hiking, biking, and really anything you can think of including the river where you can access anything on the water very easily.”
“We also have amazing restaurants and breweries across downtown and North Shore. Most tourists enjoy the Chattanooga Zoo, Tennessee Aquarium, Rock City, and Ruby Falls. Chattanooga has so much to offer, including tons of local restaurants with some fan favorites being Champy’s World Famous Fried Chicken, Parkway Pourhouse, 1885 Grill and Community Pie.”
