Many of the top high school teams in California and a few surrounding states converged on Anaheim Hills in Southern California for the beginning of the Michelle Carew Classic on Wednesday at Peralta Park. Here’s what happened:

Canyon of Anaheim 7, Santiago of Corona 3: Arizona State-bound P Kylee Magee, #3 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, got the win in the circle, 2022 2B Bella Fraser went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2024 3B Paloma Saenz went 3 for 4 with a homer to lift the Comanches over the Sharks.
Norco 6, Great Oak 1: Fairfield-bound C/1B Delaney Whieldon went 2 for 3 with an RBI, 2024 2B/3B/SS Maddy Aguilera went 1 for 2 with two RBIs, 2022 CF Abby Dalton scored three runs and 2023 P/SS/UT Marley Goluskin allowed one hit and struck out three in 3.2 innings for the Cougars.
Orange Lutheran 7, Saugus 2: P Brianne Weiss, #28 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100, picked up her 10th win of the year with 10 strikeouts, Arkansas-bound 1B/P Kiki Estrada, #13 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI, 2023 SS Tessa Jerue went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs, 2024 IF Mya Diaz went 2 for 3 with a double and Makayla Motis went 2 for 3 with a double for the Lancers in the victory.
Vista Murrieta 3, Rio Mesa 0: 2023 P Taylour Spencher struck out 10 to get the win, 2023 OF Sophia Romero went 2 for 3 with an RBI, 2022 C Kennedy DeMott went 1 for 4 with two RBIs and 2023 MIF/OF Penelope Foote went 2 for 4 for the Broncos.
Beaumont 3, Marina 2: 2025 C/3B/1B Keali Cochran led off the game with a home run, P Cambria Salmon, #7 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100, gave up four hits, one earned run and struck out nine for the complete game win and 2022 P/1B Jillian Vasquez went 2 for 3 with two doubles, a run and an RBI for the Cougars, #15 in the state.
Los Alamitos 4, Gahr 2: 2024 IF Isabella Rodriguez went 2 for 2 with an RBI for the Griffins.
El Camino Real 5, Carlsbad 3 (8 innings): 2022 C/OF Cynthia Carrillo went 3 for 3 and 2022 P Courtney Cohen hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to give the Royals, the defending CIF LA City Section Open Division champion, the win.
Saugus 5, Rio Mesa 1: 2023 OF Shae Sabedra went 3 for 4 with, a triple and an RBI, 2022 1B Caitlyn Connolly went 2 for 4 with an RBI, 2023 OF Madison Campeau went 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI and 2022 P/3B Alyssa Ramirez homered and 2022 OF Kayla Rossello went 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI for the Centurions.
Orange Lutheran 8, Vista Murrieta 0: Estrada hit a two-run bomb and Jerue and 2024 2B Emi Todoroki homered for the Lancers in the victory.
Villa Park 9, Cypress 3: 2025 P/UT Auddrey Lira allowed two hits, no earned runs and struck out two in 3.2 innings, Arizona-bound P/1B Sydney Somerndike, #13 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, struck out four in 1.2 innings of relief and homered, 2022 OF/3B Tiana Poole went 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, 2023 C/UT Rowan Drew went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, 2023 OF Claire Duckworth went 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI and 2024 OF Jamie Schafer went 1 for 1 with a triple and an RBI for the Spartans, #1 in California by Cal-Hi Sports.
Gahr 5, Carlsbad 1: Southern Utah-bound 2B/OF/SS Mikala Huskey went 3 for 3 with a double, a run and two RBIs to lift the Gladiators.
Los Alamitos 10, El Camino Real 4
Esperanza 1, Millikan 0: 2023 SS Sharyn Duncan scored on an error in the bottom of the sixth and the Aztecs held on for the victory over the Rams.
