There are two things we love about this picture:
- Photographer Holly Anthony captured the exact moment the bat hit the ball;
- Caitlin Casas, a 2022 grad who plays for the Texas Bombers STX 16U Gold team led by Nate Rodriguez, did some serious compression on the softball.
Check it out: this isn’t photo-shopped or altered in any way, this a blown-up image where you can see that the ball is getting crushed by the powerful swing of Caitlin!
Known as “KK” to her teammates, she admits she was surprised when her mom showed her the photo.
“My initial reaction was, ‘Wow! I did that!’ the incoming junior says.
“This is one of my favorite pictures. I was playing with Texas Blaze Rodriguez and I don’t remember this exact at-bat but it was at PGF. Coach Rodriguez is always telling us to have quality at-bats, to have a plan before we get to the plate, and to hit the ball hard. So that is what I tried to do.”
