National Club Player of the Week:
P/UT Jordyn Bahl (Nebraska Gold 18U – Singleton)

On Friday, Jordyn Bahl was named as the Nebraska Gatorade Softball State Player of the Year and on Monday she was honored as the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

Jordyn Bahl last Friday after a win at Top Gun in which she had 12 strikeout and hit a home run.

In between, she put on quite a show at the Top Gun Invitational as she led her team to the 18U title in the Maverick Division but it didn’t come perfectly easily.

On Thursday night she lost a tight game in pool play to fantastic 2023 pitcher Keagan Rothrock and the Lady Dukes – Lamar team 2-1 after tying the Beverly Bandits 1-1 earlier that day in a game in which she had 16 K’s.

After that, though, it was eight straight wins. On Friday, Nebraska Gold beat a strong Hotshots – Premier team 3-1 in which Jordyn gave up a first inning run and then held the opponents scoreless while hitting a home run to help her team’s offense.

Capping off the Top Gun weekend was the thrilling title game, a rematch against Lady Dukes that went into the 8th inning and saw Jordyn not only win with her arm, but her bat as she hit a single up the middle for the walk-off 1-0 win and the trophy.

In that game late, Bahl faced a daunting situation: no outs and the bases loaded. What did she do? Struck out the side.

In another inning the leadoff hitter got on third with no outs. What did Bahl do? Struck out the side again.

For the four days in Shawnee, Kansas as part of the Top Gun championship run, she pitched 36 innings and had 70 K’s while giving just four earned runs. And she also averaged .613 at the plate with several big clutch hits.

For her stellar pitching against elite competition and her timely hitting, Jordyn takes home yet another honor in what will surely be a memorable week for her!

Runners-Up / National Player of the Week
Ella Schaumkel

*  Alliel (Ella) Schaumel, a young 2027 grad who is a P/1B for Sorcerer 12U – Yoder, and is already 5-foot-10 at just 12 years old, is making a name for herself.

Last week at the SummerSlam Bash for Cash in Stockton, California she pitched five of seven games and put up stellar numbers for her team, throwing 298 pitches of which 223 were strikes, a 75% strike percentage.

She also had 24 K’s versus just two walks.

Her Coach Karen Yoder comments of her young pitcher already throwing in the low 60’s:

“Ella is a hard-working player always willing and able to step up for her team in the most challenging circumstances. She is a standout player not just because she stands at 5-foot-10, but because of how she handles herself in the circle.
