Kanisha Anderson has developed into one of the most feared triple-threat hitters in the Class of 2023.
Her track athlete speed and ability to bunt, slap and hit for power make her one of the most prized weapons for Athletics-Mercado/Tidd, #8 in the Extra Elite Eighty 14U Club Rankings.
“Kanisha is one of the hardest-working players we have in our Academy,” Athletics coach Brian Tidd said. “I have told her for the past two years she has the ability to be one of the best outfielders in the class. This season, Kanisha has proven this true. Her maturity, dedication and hard work has elevated her to an elite player. Kanisha is hitting over .500 on the season utilizing her short game, gap hitting and ability to hit for power, she is a 2.6 to first and controls the outfield playing CF with a great arm. Kanisha has invested a lot of time in learning the game and how to implement her talents for her success on the field. I love the way she plays the game and more importantly the person she has become. She has learned how to lead and what it takes to be a great teammate. There is no limit for Kanisha. Her work ethic and mindset will take her to the top.”
Anderson’s skills are drawing a lot of attention from Power 5 schools.
“Kanisha is one of the fastest girls I’ve ever met,” said 2024 IF/UT Paige Bambarger, who made the 2019 PGF 14U Platinum All-Tournament Team. “Offensively, she knows how to read the defense really well and can place the ball. She’s also a triple threat, which makes it was tougher for the defense. The amount of power and pop in her bat is crazy. Kanisha is also one of the most consistent on our team offensively. Defensively, she’s incredible in the outfield. Between her speed and her ability to read the ball, pretty much nothing drops in center field. Her arm is insanely strong and her throws are always right on. I would say her consistency is what makes her unique. She’s always giving you everything she’s got in practices and games. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her take a play off. She always plays like it’s the championship game.”
When Anderson channels her inner Panda and gets to work on the base paths, she can be a sight to behold.
“She’s a very talented individual,” said 2024 C/1B Skye Johnson, #54 in the 2024 Extra Elite 100. “She is one of the fastest girls I know! Her ability to hit the ball with power as a slapper is amazing. She is very well at placing the ball and finding gaps. Kanisha has a very high IQ and knows how to work around the infield. She is one of the best bunters I know. She knows how to push the ball in the right direction. Also, her defense is unbelievable. Her arm has so much strength to throw anybody out! Well, the obvious is her speed. If you look beneath the surface, she has outstanding personality traits. She comes from a well-rounded family. Both mother and father are former military, solid foundation for her to build upon, just hands-down outstanding person. She is a very good friend of mine.”
Anderson’s defensive skills can be just as spectacular.
“Kanisha’s skills out in center field are tremendous,” said 2023 OF Jazmine Torres, who made the 2019 PGF 14U Platinum All-Tournament Team. “Wherever the ball is hit on either side of her, she covers enough ground to get to it with her speed and good athletic ability. And something that makes her unique are the good observations that she detects from each pitcher after her at-bat. She’s also someone that I can trust out there in the outfield.”
Tidd’s Athletics reached the PGF 14U Platinum national championship game last summer as a first-year 14U team. Anderson played a vital role and her ability to handle pressure-packed situations is another plus.
“Kanisha is a very skilled player,” 2023 P Alyvia Hernandez. “She makes every hard play seem so easy. She goes hard every play and never lays off. She always keeps a good mindset and always positive energy. I can always trust her when a ball is hit her way. Something that makes her unique would be the way she always executes in tough situations. She always pulls through for the team and coaches.”
