Athletics-Mercado/Ornelas corner infielder Ramsey Suarez didn’t just wake up as a great softball player.
Her work ethic, drive, determination and leadership are what have helped the UCLA commit become one of the top 2022 prospects in the nation.
“Ramsey Suarez is the most hard-working and committed athletes I have ever met,” Athletics 2021 OF Bella Mejia said. “She not only shows off her talent and work ethic on the field but every day off the field. Things that make her so unique as a teammate are that she’s so inspiring, making everyone want to be at practice or games with her positive attitude and hard work, always getting better every second, no slack … she is the true definition of a leader.”
“Ramsey has more skill than anyone I’ve ever seen,” Mejia continued, “and being able to watch her grow into the powerful athlete she has become has been so motivational, and I know other athletes would definitely agree. She is extremely memorable. Trust me, you won’t be forgetting her after you watch her play and, luckily, we have many more years to watch such a marvelous player continue to strive.”
Suarez’s teammates say she makes them better as softball players.
“I’ve been playing with Ramsey since we were about 7-years-old and I have never come across anybody more determined and resilient than her,” Athletics 2021 2B/OF/UT Makenzie Guiliano said. “Every time she steps on the field you are guaranteed 110 percent effort. The power she provides within her swing is remarkable and she is a wall at third base. You would consider yourself lucky if you got her as a teammate!”
“She is always there to pick you up when you fall down,” Guillian add, “and always challenges you when you need to be pushed. The amount of focus she puts into her work drives you to be better than you were before. Ramsey is the kind of teammate you want on your side to be the best softball player you can possibly be. She is inspiring.”
Pitchers love Suarez’s glove work on the corners.
“Rams is one of the best teammates I’ve ever had,” Athletics 2021 P Mia Garcia said. “She’s full of energy and as a pitcher it’s really good to have her on the field because she always keeps the defense alive and is a key leader on the team. She makes her presence on the field known but in a very humble way. She’s an amazing third baseman, gets almost everything that comes to her and her hitting is remarkable. She’s a beast on defense and up to bat. If I had to pick someone for my team, hands down it would be Ramsey 10-of-10 times because of her humbleness, attitude and overall skill level.”
