Health Update: Lady Dukes Head James Lamar Continues to Recover, “Life After Transplant Unfortunately Hasn’t Gotten Easier”

It’s been a stressful summer for the family of James Lamar, the head of the Lady Dukes club organization after the longtime coach suffered a stroke at the end of May.

In a period of just a few months, he’s had emergency heart surgery, had a heart and kidney transplant, woken up and walked around his hospital room post-surgery and even sent a note out on Twitter.

But, as his wife Marissa Young, the Duke softball coach, poignantly posted on her Twitter page Friday, there is still a long way to go in Coach Lamar’s recovery.
