Breaking News: Coach James Lamar of Lady Dukes Had Heart Transplant Last Night, Kidney Transplant Today

Great news out of the softball world as James Lamar, the head coach of the Lady Dukes travel ball organization, underwent a heart transplant last night and is schedule to have a kidney transplant today, per a social media post by his wife, Marissa Young.

She poignant wrote:

Day 61: Marks Day 1 of his new journey! 7.27.23 will be James new birthdate!

Coach Young, who heads the Duke University softball team, added the following to her twitter post from this morning.

Coach James first went into the hospital on May 31, 2023 after undergoing emergency heart surgery and the situation was dire as he was placed on life support. Click HERE to read that initial story.

 Coach Lamar’s son James, who is out at PGF Nationals to watch his sisters play on the Lady Dukes 18U – Lamar team, said after their win last night: “This is the first time I’ve been able to watch them play this summer.”
