LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville softball coach Holly Aprile has released the Cardinals’ 2024 schedule which includes 20 home games with one tournament at Ulmer Stadium as Louisville marks its 25th season of softball.
The 56-game slate will feature five teams ranked in the final ESPN.com USA Softball or USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association top-25 last season along with nine NCAA tournament teams including Women’s College World Series runner-up Florida State.
Louisville’s Atlantic Coast Conference schedule includes home series against Virginia Tech, Duke, Clemson and Florida State – all of whom finished the 2023 campaign ranked the in the top-25 nationally. The Cardinals will also face Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Boston College on the road.
The Cards will open the season Feb. 9-10 when they travel to Ft. Myers, Fla., to take on LIU, Georgetown and Florida Gulf Coast in the FGCU Kickoff Classic. The team will stay on the road for a midweek matchup at FIU before continuing to Boca Raton, Fla., to face Seton Hall, Maine, Michigan and host FAU in the Joan Joyce Classic.
The last weekend in February features a trip to Conway, S.C. where the Cardinals will match up against Furman, Bowling Green along with host Coastal Carolina in the Battle at the Beach.
After three straight weekends on the road, UofL will play host to Western Kentucky in its home opener on Feb. 27 before returning to Florida for the USF Tournament which also features Villanova, Georgia Southern, Central Michigan and the host Bulls.
With 21 of their first 22 games on the road, the Cardinals will come back to Ulmer Stadium for an eight-game home stand starting with a midweek contest against Arizona before opening ACC play with a three-game series against Virginia Tech. The following weekend brings the 2024 Cardinal Classic with a field that includes South Dakota, Illinois and Michigan.
After a midweek game at Miami (Ohio), the Cardinals will once again return to the friendly confines of Ulmer Stadium for a four-game home stretch starting with a weekend ACC series against Duke and concluding with a midweek contest against Indiana in a rematch of 2023 NCAA regional opponents.
Louisville will round out the month of March at ACC foe Pittsburgh before traveling to Northern Kentucky for a midweek contest and another 2023 NCAA regional rematch. The Cards will continue their challenging home slate when national runner-up Florida State visits for a three-game conference matchup followed by a midweek game against Kentucky.
The Cards will hit the road for four straight games starting with a midweek trip to Eastern Kentucky and wrapping up the weekend at North Carolina.
UofL will honor its senior class in their final regular season home weekend when Clemson visits Ulmer Stadium April 26-28. The Cardinals will wrap up the regular season at Boston College.
The 2024 ACC Softball Championship taking place May 8-11 in Durham, N.C. with Duke serving as the host.
