A team looking to bark this season is the Northern Illinois Huskies. Coming off of a winning season last year, the Huskies featured 11 freshmen a season ago, and are looking for even more production this season led by returning MAC All-Conference players, Kiley Conner and Danielle Stewart.
Last year, Conner saw time in the outfield, and in the circle. She batted .363, with eight doubles, three home runs, and was the only Huskie to have an on-base plus slugging percentage north of 1.000. She was named the MAC Freshman of the Year for her play in the second half of the season. In addition, Conner was also named 2nd team all-conference, and to the conference all-freshman team.Â
Another dynamite player is Stewart. In the circle, she was one of the best pitchers in the MAC as a freshman with a 3.06 ERA and a 13-10 record. Stewart’s eight complete games helped her garner NFCA All-Region Third Team, MAC All-Freshman Team, and All-MAC First Team honors.Â
