Marlee Gaskell, a left-handed pitcher for the Birmingham Bolts 18U Premier – Kaplan, will continue her softball career at Florida State University.
Marlee Gaskell, a talented left-handed pitcher on the Birmingham Thunderbolts 18U Premier—Kaplan, has accepted an offer to play Division I softball in the ACC for the Florida State Seminoles, starting in the fall of 2025.
Hailing from Midlothian, Virginia, Marlee has been in the game as long as she can remember.

“As I got older, I knew I wanted to play college softball,” shared the athlete. “After my first year of 14U, I got the opportunity to join the Birmingham Thunderbolts organization on Coach Justin Kaplan’s team. This allowed me to play against the best competition in the country and pitch in front of many college coaches.”
During Marlee’s sophomore season with the Lady Trojans of Midlothian High School, she helped her team to its first Regional Championship in several years—a milestone that ignited the athlete’s fire for high-level competition. Following this incredible season, Marlee was named 1st Team All-Metro, All-Region, and All-State.

The lefty pitcher carried her success into the summer club season, helping the Bolts to an impressive 49-9-1 finish. Throwing for nearly 50 innings, Marlee went 9-0 on the mound and saved every game she was put in for. With 12 combined shut-outs, Marlee’s performance in the circle caught the attention of Florida State’s Head Coach Lonni Alameda with her 54 strikeouts and .727 ERA.
