Kaiya Fabela, a catcher and first-baseman for the Impact Gold 16U Jazz, has accepted an offer to play Division I softball in the Big 12 Conference art Brigham Young University, starting in the fall of 2025.
Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, Kaiya’s been on the field since seven years old, first joining a club program at the age of 10.
“During my first season of select ball, we didn’t have a catcher. My dad, who was my coach at the time, told me to get the gear on and set up behind the plate,” recalled the athlete. “I immediately fell in love with the game from a different perspective.”
By the time Kaiya joined the Impact Gold, she’d established herself in the softball world as a “player to watch” behind the plate, consistently throwing runners out and hyping up her teammates. Coach Jazz Jackson Vesely, who leads the elite squad, made a significant impact during the athlete’s recruitment process, creating an environment where the players are able to develop lifelong friendships and build camaraderie on the field.
