Tournament directors play a critical role in shaping the fastpitch softball landscape by creating the competitive environments where athletes are challenged, teams are evaluated, and development accelerates. The level of competition, organization, and overall event experience directly influence national rankings, recruiting conversations, and how players grow within the game.

Extra Inning Softball has long recognized the importance of tournaments in advancing the sport. Through years of research and evaluation, events across the country have been analyzed as part of the platform’s internal rankings process, reinforcing the impact tournaments have on visibility and opportunity for athletes and teams alike.

In 2026, Extra Inning Softball is taking a significant step forward by expanding national tournament coverage and waiving every fee associated with it. For the first time ever, tournament directors can receive comprehensive promotional and editorial coverage at no cost, reflecting a continued commitment to invest directly in the softball community and elevate the events that help shape the game.

Why Tournament Coverage Matters

Over the last 16 months, Extra Inning Softball has generated 11.7 million website impressions, reaching families, athletes, coaches, and decision-makers across the country. As part of the platform’s internal rankings and research process, the Extra Inning Softball team evaluated more than 150 tournaments and events nationwide—including many of the sport’s most competitive showcases.

That insight has reinforced one key truth: tournaments are where the game’s stories are written. They are where athletes separate themselves, teams define identities, and programs earn national recognition. Expanded coverage allows those moments to live beyond the weekend and reach a much wider audience.

What’s Changing in 2026

In previous years, Extra Inning Softball offered a paid tournament promotion package priced at $1,000, which included website placement, registration links, and social media promotion.

In 2026, that package becomes completely free.

This shift allows Extra Inning Softball to focus less on transactional promotion and more on meaningful pre-tournament and post-tournament storytelling—the kind that benefits directors, teams, and athletes alike.

What Tournament Directors Receive

Tournament directors whose events are selected for coverage can expect the following at no cost:

  • Pre-tournament article coverage highlighting the event, divisions, location, and competitive landscape (when sufficient details and photos are provided)

  • Listing on the Extra Inning Softball website under the Tournaments section beginning in 2026

  • Social media promotion across Extra Inning Softball platforms to drive visibility and awareness

  • Optional post-tournament results coverage, including champions, key performances, and notable highlights

This approach ensures tournaments are not only promoted—but documented in a way that supports long-term visibility, credibility, and recruiting relevance.

How to Be Considered for Coverage

Tournament directors interested in free 2026 coverage must complete the Diamond Elite Tournament Registration Form for each event they wish to have considered.

The form also includes an option to request post-tournament coverage. If selected for post-event storytelling, organizers must submit final results, champions, key highlights, and images within 24 hours of the tournament’s conclusion to ensure timely publication.

Because the Extra Inning Softball editorial calendar fills quickly, early submissions are strongly recommended.

A Partnership Built on Growth

This expansion reflects Extra Inning Softball’s continued investment in the sport—not just through rankings, but through storytelling that highlights the environments where athletes are tested and developed. Tournament directors are partners in that mission, and this initiative is designed to support their work without added cost or barriers.

Thank you to the directors and organizations who continue to raise the competitive standard across the country. Extra Inning Softball looks forward to spotlighting more tournaments, teams, and moments in 2026.
