By any measure, former College of Charleston assistant coach Laina Holmgren knows how to build an offense. At George Washington, her lineups hit .341 (No. 2 nationally in 2019) and .340 (No. 5 in 2021) on the way to A-10 titles and the program’s first NCAA Regional. At Louisiana-Monroe, she helped lift the Warhawks from last in Sun Belt batting average in 2021 to third in 2022 while the win column surged. A former Boise State/Charleston Southern student-athlete who graduated summa cum laude, Holmgren has coached infielders, outfielders, hitters, and catchers—and her message is consistent: keep the swing simple, the feedback tight, and the intent high. Here’s her hitting blueprint for athletes and coaches.
