Golden Arm Award – Most Wins
The spring high school softball season has kicked off with an exciting new initiative that will elevate the sport’s coverage and highlight the nation’s top athletes. MaxPreps, in partnership with Extra Innings Softball (EIS), has launched the Golden Awards, a groundbreaking recognition program to showcase high school talent throughout the spring season. The Golden Golden Arm, Golden Bat and Golden Glove awards will shine a spotlight on standout players in three key categories: defense, pitching, and offense. This collaboration will bring regular updates on the best performers in these areas from March 19th through mid-June, culminating in an awards ceremony to celebrate the top athletes.

Golden Arm: Celebrating Pitching Excellence
Wednesday (Bi-monthly) will be dedicated to recognizing pitching talent through the Golden Arm category. Pitching is considered one of the most critical positions in softball, and the Golden Arm aims to highlight the nation’s top pitchers across four subcategories. These subcategories offer a comprehensive look at pitching excellence:
- Lowest ERA – This category celebrates pitchers with the lowest earned run averages, a key metric that showcases consistency and effectiveness on the mound.
- Most Strikeouts (K’s) – The pitcher with the most strikeouts will be honored for their ability to dominate hitters and set the tone for their team’s success.
- No-Hitters – Achieving a no-hitter is one of the greatest feats in softball, and this category recognizes those pitchers who accomplish this historic achievement.
- Most Wins – The top pitchers in terms of wins will be spotlighted, showcasing those who consistently lead their teams to victory throughout the season.
By dividing the Golden Arm into these four distinct categories, MaxPreps and Extra Inning Softball ensure a well-rounded celebration of pitching excellence, recognizing both individual performances and overall season-long consistency.
