Overcoming Adversity: Addison Marker
In September 2022, Addison Marker, a talented pitcher and utility player for Thunder Elite Premier McFann 14u, was faced with a life-altering diagnosis. What began as a routine physical exam for her 7th-grade volleyball season revealed a serious spinal condition. Addison’s doctor identified severe scoliosis, which was characterized by an S-curve in her spine. Initially, her condition was measured at 43 degrees on the lower curve and 46 degrees on the upper curve. This severe curvature was not only a physical challenge but also a profound emotional hurdle for a multi-sport athlete who thrived on her active lifestyle.
