Perseverance, Prayer, and Passion: Dot Richardson Reflects on Road to Olympic Gold – Part 1 of 3

Dot Richardson starts the first part of this three part series by telling how she first took the field at seven, to when she received her first medal with the Orlando Rebels.

Last month, I was lucky enough to connect with Dot Richardson, the epitome of a “legend” in the world of softball. Beginning her career in a time where girls and women were not afforded the same opportunities as the opposite gender, Coach Richardson’s journey to the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Gold Medals with Team USA serves as inspiration to everyone, especially the young female athletes today who are gearing up to compete for the United States in the 2024 Olympic Games.

The following is the first in a three-part series of Dot Richardson’s story, told in her own words, adapted from an interview conducted in October.

Stay tuned as parts 2 and 3 will be published at 2pm MST on Friday and Saturday, respectively—this is not a story you are going to want to miss.
