Previewing Today’s  PGF Premier National Championships at 14U, 12U and 10U

It’s all come down to this.

After a week of competition in Southern California in Huntington (14U), Fountain Valley (12U) and Irvine (10U), the PGF Premier National Championships will be decided today.

The finals will be played at Deanna Stadium at Bill Barber Park in Irvine, Calif. and here are the game times (PST) for the championships:

 3:30 pm: 14U Premier Championship

Atlanta Vipers- Tamborra vs. Birmingham Thunderbolts – Thompson

How They Got There:

Both the Vipers and Thunderbolts came through the winner’s bracket to make it to the final.

The Game of the Day was the Vipers ITB win to put them in the title game Saturday. Jordynn Parnell (‘26/P) went the distance in the 2-1 exciting finale in bracket play throwing eight innings and only allowing two hits again a strong Tampa Mustangs – Fowler team. A clutch at-bat by Laci Martinez (‘26 OF) was big; Martinez who went 2-3 at the plate allowing Leah Byrd (‘26 SS/P) to score her with a double in the bottom of the 1st inning. Defensively, a huge double play in the 3rd inning by Leah Byrd (‘26 SS/P) to Payton Tamborra (‘27 P/1B) helped slow down the Mustangs. ITB in the 8th placed Jordynn Lewis (‘26 SS) at 2B with Mia Johnson (‘26 3B) at the plate with two outs Mia drills a ball to right field to walk it off. Said Coach Stacy Tamborra: “We’ve lived by the motto “Pressure Is a Privilege” and this is our reality: love the moment! They’ve earned it, now it’s time to own it!”

The Bolts used the combine pitching of Boo Herber and Missy Odom to first knock off the Firecrackers – TJ team and then the strong Beverly Bandits – Norwood team which it beat 4-3 to prevent the need for an “If” game. EIS predicted these teams would advance to the championship game, but the Bandits lost a heartbreaker Friday night in a close call at the plate put them on the losing end and in the bracket with the Thunderbolts. The Bolts have one of the strongest middle infields at any age division with Aspen Boulware (2B) and Haylen Ayers (SS). Ryan Thompson’s team has speed and can kill you with the small ball game.

12 pm: 12U Premier Championship

Arizona Storm – Kobasew vs. BSC Bengals

How They Got There:

The Arizona Storm had to play two games including the “If” game against an excellent Beverly Bandits Premier Mrozek(PGF) but were able to win both of them to make it to face a powerhouse BSC Bengals game which has gone undefeated through PGF Nationals this week and having won in Colorado. The Bengals win over the A’s – Mercao/Walker team not only put them in the middle championship contest on Sunday, it also meant it won its 100^th game this season.

9 am: 10U Premier Championship

So Cal Firebyrds vs. Birmingham Thunderbolts 2030

How They Got There:

You gotta love the Thunderbolts program led by Rocky Thompson: the organization has a chance to win two Premier championships today after having come in 2^nd place Saturday night in the 14U Platinum championships, falling 3-2 to Tampa Mustangs – Pynes. The Bolts 2030 team has an offense that can put up runs: on Saturday in the winner’s bracket, the Thunderbolts outscored opponents 28-9… in two games! The Firebyrds have an explosive offense as well and beat one team in bracket play 24-0 but has the pitching as well as four of the games this week were shutouts and another one was a win with just one run allowed.
