Q&A with 2026 Extra Elite 100 Catcher Bailey Poschke… “Unlimited Potential at the Next Level”

Bailey Poschke is a standout Class of 2026 catcher, but can play any infield or outfield position as well.
Bailey had the highest batting average of anyone in the Colorado Sparkler 14U Super Pool Showcase last year.

Though just a freshman in high school, Bailey Poschke—a catcher and utility player with the Tennessee Mojo 07 team coached by Bruce Lewis—has seemingly been on the national softball landscape from birth and that’s because she’s that good.

Coach Lewis explains:

“I have coached Bailey since 9U and I knew she was going be special at that young age,” he begins. “She was quiet and listened to everything we told her; today, we can look at each other and know what the other is thinking!”

Whatever the young player is doing… it’s working.

She’s twice been honored as a Top 25 player in the 2026 Extra Elite 100 rankings and typically hits in the .400-plus, even .500, range—that’s typically playing up against teams a year or two older than her.

What Coach Lewis and other coaches and scouts especially love about Bailey is her versatility and all-around skills as she can play anywhere on the field other than on the pitching mound.

“She has been a true utility for our team,” continues Coach Lewis. “Bailey has unlimited potential at the next level and, whatever school gets her, will get a great student on and off the field.”

Coach Lewis predicts great things for his star club player… and not just in sports.

“Bailey will succeed in everything she does in life because of her competitiveness. She is a real joy to coach and I’m really happy and excited to see her future, which is very bright.”

Extra Inning Softball recently caught up with the versatile athlete to learn what makes her tick on and off the fastpitch fields…

Bailey has a “very bright” future according to Head Coach Bruce Lewis.

What are your team’s top accomplishments?
My team gets invited to top tournaments and plays against the best teams in the country.

What are your top individual accomplishments?
My overall player ranking by Extra Inning Softball is No. 22, as well as No. 11 as a catcher. I have been ranked in the Top 25 for the past two years. Last summer I was selected to play in the Colorado Sparkler Super Pool showcase and had the highest batting average out of all 300-plus 14U teams.

On the road again… Bailey, her younger brother, Gavin, and her Mom as they’re headed to another sporting activity somewhere!

What are your strengths in softball?
Some of my strengths include communication, putting the ball in play, and being able to be used wherever the team needs me. As a catcher, I make sure to actively talk to my teammates and make sure they know the plays at all times.

Another one of my strengths is almost always being able to put the ball in play. Over the fall my contact percentage was 96.08 and my batting average was .471. Also, I can play any position on the field except for pitcher. Whenever I am not catching, I rotate positions every inning.

What is your favorite softball memory?
My favorite softball memory was when I had just joined a team and during my first at-bat I hit a line drive right at one of my teammates who was running the bases. It broke her chest protector and I felt terrible, but we have been best friends ever since!

Do you have any softball superstitions?
One of my softball superstitions is that, before I go on-deck I have to take two sips of my water. Another superstition is whenever I’m in the box, before every pitch, I have to tell myself “You got this!”

What is the funniest thing you have ever seen happen on a softball field?
One time I was rounding second base to go to third, and I completely tripped over the bag. I face planted right in the middle of the baseline. It was very embarrassing but, thankfully, I made it back to second base.

If you could meet anyone in the softball world, who would it be?
I would love to meet Jocelyn Alo. She’s an amazing role model and makes me realize that all this hard work is worth the outcome.

What is one thing you have learned from your coach that will always stay with you?
One thing my coach has taught me is that it is important to enjoy the game. Something that he constantly tells me is “Smile!” This will always stick with me because, a lot of the time, I put too much pressure on myself, but Coach Bruce reminds me that I just need to relax and have fun. If you aren’t enjoying the game, then you aren’t playing it right.

What is something unique about you?
Something unique about me is that I have six siblings, but only one is full blood. I’ve got two half siblings, three step and one full.

Who is your hero and why?
My heroes are definitely my parents. I cannot thank them enough for all they have done for me. They have always told me that if I work hard enough, I can accomplish anything I want. I can always depend on them to be there for me or help me whenever needed. They are my biggest supporters, and I will always look up to them.

What other activities and hobbies do you enjoy outside of softball?
Outside of softball, I enjoy reading. Reading relaxes me, and if I have a good book, I could read it all day. I also enjoy watching movies. If I’ve got nothing to do, sometimes I’ll just watch them all day.

Bailey slides safely into third.

If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be and why?
If I had to choose anyone dead or alive to eat dinner with, I would choose my Nana. She recently passed from Covid a little over a year ago and I would do anything to see her again.

What is your favorite quote or motto?
“The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same,” by Colin R. Davis. This reminds me that along the way to accomplishing success, you will fail. You just have to pick yourself back up.
