Recruiting Spotlight: New Alabama Commit Jenna Lord… Why She Committed to the Crimson Tide

Jenna Lord committed to the Crimson Tide last Sunday during her visit to the SEC school.

It should come as no surprise that Jenna Lord, ranked by Extra Inning Softball as one of the top players in her class (Top 35 in the 2021 Extra Elite 100), has committed to a powerhouse program like Alabama.

When the official contact period started Sept. 1 for her class, Jenna was talking to coaches from at least one school in every Power 5 conference across the country and had a lot of options when it came to who she would consider for her future schools.

“September 1 was great for me,” the junior shortstop/catcher from Sunlake High in Land O’Lakes, Florida said. “I’m so thankful to have a bunch of schools reach out via text or call. I had some activity at midnight which was pretty unexpected since nobody knew what was going to happen.”

“It was a pretty hectic day because on Saturday my family moved into our new house in Alabama, so I was pretty busy. But September 1 is a reminder for me to keep working and to work harder every day and to know that God has a plan for me.”

Jenna is an amazing hitter who hit three home runs in a game at the Colorado Sparkler tournament two years ago and a year ago at Boulder IDT went on an unbelievable streak that saw her go 13-for-13 with seven home runs.

A good athlete who can play anywhere on the field, she committed to the Crimson Tide on her trip last weekend, saying she loved the “family culture” of the SEC school.

Here’s more on the junior who earned all-state high school softball honors in Alabama as a sophomore…

Talking recruiting first off, what was the ultimate factor or factors that helped you commit to Alabama?
The coaches, girls and culture! They coaches are amazing and genuine people who preach person first, athlete second. The girls were amazing too and the family culture of Alabama is unreal.
