From Regions to National – The Class of 2029 journey began with recognition.
Extra Inning Softball began by recognizing academic and developmental excellence through the National Honor Roll, highlighting three distinguished categories: Distinguished Prospects, Extra Selects Achievers, and Extra Elite Scholars. From there, the evaluation expanded regionally with player rankings across every part of the country, setting the foundation for national comparison.
The spotlight then shifted to the national stage.

The Extra Elite 100 Rankings were unveiled, followed by the Fastpitch Fan Pick, showcasing the athletes earning both performance-based and community-driven recognition. National expansion continued with the National Extra Select 101–200 Rankings, followed by the National Extra Prospects 201–300, completing the full Top 300 national board across all positions.
Momentum did not stop there.
Regional Hitters Hotlists [see below]were introduced across each geographic region, identifying offensive standouts gaining traction locally. That progression culminated in the release of the National Elite Top 100 Hotlists — including Sluggers, Pure Hitters, Slappers, and Pitcher-Hitter Duos — spotlighting the athletes defining offensive impact across multiple dimensions of the game. Below, you will find the full recap and direct links to every release in the Class of 2029 rollout.

📌 Two New Initiatives
We’ve introduced two strategic upgrades to elevate how our rankings and watchlists are evaluated and presented.

CEO Bonnie Holland
Both the national rankings and Hitters Hotlists are developed using the same disciplined evaluation framework that anchors every Extra Inning Softball board. Our team conducts comprehensive nomination reviews, verifies submitted data, analyzes performance trends, evaluates competition level, and applies structured criteria to ensure each release reflects consistency, context, and competitive integrity.
The rankings provide national placement across the Top 300, while the Hotlists serve as curated Top 100 recognitions within specific impact categories. Together, they offer layered visibility — honoring measurable production, upward trajectory, and sustained performance within the national landscape.
“Our rankings and Hotlists are about identification and validation,” said Extra Inning Softball CEO Bonnie Holland. “We recognize athletes who have demonstrated measurable impact and who are trending upward nationally. The goal is clarity and recognition — not simply comparison within a numbered order.”
Extra Inning Softball remains committed to serving the softball community through comprehensive, year-round coverage. Beyond rankings, members gain access to in-depth player features, coach and organization spotlights, recruiting insights, analytical breakdowns, and national news designed to elevate athletes and programs across the country.
