The Ronald McDonald Tournament softball event – Session #2 will take place October 23–25, 2026, in the Greater Houston area, continuing a long-standing tradition of competition, development, and community impact.
Hosted by Triple Crown Sports, this second session shifts the focus to 10U–14U teams, providing younger athletes with a structured and competitive fall tournament experience.
At Extra Inning Softball, we emphasize the importance of early development opportunities, and Session #2 of the Ronald McDonald Tournament delivers exactly that—giving emerging athletes a chance to compete, grow, and prepare for future recruiting stages.
While Session #1 is known for its recruiting exposure, session #2 plays a critical role in building the foundation for the next generation of players.

A Legacy of Competition and Giving Back
For more than 33 years, the Ronald McDonald Tournament has evolved into one of the most respected events in fastpitch softball. What began as a small regional gathering has grown into a nationally recognized tournament that attracts competitive programs year after year.
Beyond the competition, the event’s impact extends far into the community.
The tournament has helped generate over $850,000 in donations for Ronald McDonald House Charities, supporting families during some of life’s most challenging moments. In 2026, the tradition continues with $100 donated for every participating team, ensuring that each team contributes to a meaningful cause.
This unique combination of competition and community impact remains a defining element of the Ronald McDonald Tournament experience.

Built for Player Development
Session #2 is specifically designed to support player growth and team development at the younger age levels.
The tournament features divisions for 10U, 12U, and 14U, creating an environment where athletes can gain valuable game experience while continuing to build foundational skills.
Each team is guaranteed three pool play games, which are used to seed teams into a single-elimination championship bracket. This format ensures that teams receive consistent competition while still competing for a title at the end of the weekend.
For many programs, this event serves as an important checkpoint during the fall season, allowing coaches to evaluate lineups, test strategies, and track player progress.

New Opportunity: 12U Road to the Rockies
One of the most exciting additions to Session #2 in 2026 is the introduction of the 12U Road to the Rockies Division.
This division offers a competitive bracket-style format with three pool games followed by a single-elimination bracket, creating a championship-style experience for younger athletes.
The stakes are elevated with a unique incentive—the championship team will earn a paid entry into the 12U POWER POOL division at the 2027 Colorado 4th of July event, providing a direct pathway to national-level competition.
With limited spots available, this division is expected to attract strong emerging programs looking to position themselves for future success.

Preparing for the Next Level
While Session #2 is centered on development, it also plays a key role in preparing athletes for the next stages of their softball journey.
The fall season provides a valuable window for athletes to:
- Strengthen fundamentals
- Build team chemistry
- Gain confidence through game reps
- Adjust to higher levels of competition
For 14U athletes, in particular, this tournament serves as an early step toward the recruiting process, helping players gain experience in competitive environments before entering key recruiting years.
