At Extra Inning Softball, we have long been known for recognizing the extraordinary talent of girls fastpitch softball players across the country. Our rankings have celebrated the sheer determination it takes to excel on the field. However, as important as it is to acknowledge athletic achievements, we believe it’s equally crucial to highlight the academic excellence of these young women. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our latest ranking focused on the “student-athlete,” where we honor those who not only shine on the diamond but also excel in the classroom.

The Commitment of Student-Athletes

Being a student-athlete is no small feat. Balancing the rigorous demands of academics with the physical and mental challenges of competitive softball requires an incredible level of dedication, time management, and perseverance. These young women exemplify what it means to be committed not only to their sport but also to their education—a combination that will serve them well in all aspects of life.

To recognize their hard work, we’ve created three distinct categories based on player’s cumulative GPA as follows:

Distinguished Prospects: GPA 3.5 – 3.74

Select Achievers: GPA 3.75 – 3.99

Elite Scholars: GPA 4.00 and Above

These GPA-based rankings highlight the exceptional academic performances of these student-athletes, showcasing those who manage to maintain high academic standards while pursuing their passion for softball.

Distinguished Prospects: GPA 3.5 – 3.74

The first group includes student-athletes with a GPA ranging from 3.5 to 3.74. Maintaining a GPA in this range is no small achievement, especially when balancing the demanding schedules that come with being an athlete. This group demonstrates that it is possible to excel academically while also being a standout on the field. These athletes are building a solid foundation for their future, proving that hard work in both arenas can yield remarkable results.

Select Achievers: GPA 3.75 – 3.99

The second group honors those with GPAs between 3.75 and 3.99. These student-athletes are pushing the boundaries of academic excellence, consistently achieving high marks in their studies. They often take on challenging courses, all while dedicating countless hours to their sport. This level of achievement is indicative of a strong work ethic and an unwavering commitment to their personal and academic growth. These young women are not only leaders on the field but also in the classroom, where they set the standard for excellence.

Elite Scholars: GPA 4.00 and Above

The top group features student athletes who have attained a GPA of 4.00 and above. These students represent the pinnacle of academic and athletic excellence. Achieving a perfect or near-perfect GPA while competing at a high level in softball is a testament to their incredible dedication, intelligence, and time management skills. These young women are truly exceptional, serving as role models for their peers. They embody the very definition of a student-athlete, proving that it is possible to achieve greatness in both their academic and athletic pursuits.

At Extra Inning Softball, we believe in the importance of recognizing and celebrating the dual achievements of these outstanding young women. We know that the path of a student-athlete is filled with challenges, from early morning practices to late-night study sessions. It requires a unique blend of passion, discipline, and resilience. By highlighting the academic accomplishments of these players, we aim to inspire future generations of student-athletes to strive for excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

As part of our commitment to celebrating these achievements, we will release the Extra Inning Softball Academic Honor Roll starting with the Class of 2025. We will first highlight players by region and then nationally.

• National Honor Roll: September 12-14, 2024
  • National Distinguished Prospects: Thursday, September 12^th
  • National Select Achievers: Friday, September 13^th
  • National Elite Scholars: Saturday, September 14th
