Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier 2028 – Brashears took down Texas Bombers Gold National 2010, 7-0, in the 12U PGF Super Select Championship game on Sunday at the Ridley Sports Complex in Columbia, Tenn.
The Super Select is considered one of—if not the biggest—tournaments at the 12U age level other than Nationals.
The Birmingham-based Thunderbolts were led offensively by 2028 SS Macie Brashears (.692 batting average, 9 RBIs) and 2028 OF Briley “BooBoo” Bright (.500 batting average) over the nine-game stretch.
While all the Birmingham Thunderbolt pitchers performed at a high level, the contribution of a combined perfect game in the championship game by 2028 pitchers Kenzie Jackson and Elyn Simpkins came at just the right time to cap the exciting weekend in Tennessee.
The PGF Super Select drew 56 teams from 20-plus states making it one of the largest 12U tournaments of the year.
The Thunderbolts-Brashears team outscored its opponents 49 to 10 with notable wins over Tulsa Shootout, Texas Bombers Gold National, Beverly Bandits Brinkley/Glass, Beverly Bandits Mrozek, and Corona Angels Dre, in bracket play.
This week the team is at the PGF Mojo tournament in Columbia, Tenn.
