12U CLUB SCOUTING REPORT
Extra Inning Softball began releasing the Extra Elite Eighty 12U Club Rankings today (Monday, April 27, 2020), so we’ll continue to take a look at some of the top teams in the nation.
Let’s take a look at Coach Bob Turner‘s team …
TOP GUN 07-NAVY
2019 Fall Record: 16-4
Top Finishes: Second place at 12A Earl Turnure Memorial Tournament, first place at 12A Fall State Championships and third place at 12A Monster Bash.
Returners:
- Mallory Crane (2025, OF, most improved player in the fall and a kid who makes all the plays in the outfield. Batted .424 with nine runs and 12 SBs in the fall)
- Sidney Hemme (2025, RHP/1B, went 4-0 in the fall, striking out 29 in 21 IP. Offensively hit .385 with five extra-base hits, 10 runs and 10 RBIs)
- Kelsie Donaldson (2026, LHP/1B, Struck out 39 in 31 innings and finished with a 1.31 ERA in the fall. Began her pitching career early, working with local star Paige Parker and now works with well-renowned Top Gun pitching instructor and coach Randi Davis. Offensively, hit .583 with seven extra-base hits and 10 RBIs)
- Sydnee Wagner (2026, RHP/MIF, the hardest thrower in the region in the age group. She racked up 28 Ks and a 2.5 ERA in the circle. Offensively, she hit .462 with 19 runs scored)
- Madison Rust (2027, UT, very athletic and hit a team-leading .595 with four triples and 14 runs scored. She also drove in 11 runs and stole 18 bases)
- Charley Gibbs (2025, C/SS/CF, talented and athletic, plays up the middle at three different key spots. Offensively, hit .387 with five extra-base hits, 16 runs and 10 SBs. She also spent some time playing 18 Gold with the Top Gun 18 National team)
- Zoee Burke (2026, C/3B, she has ridiculous hands at C/3B, described by many as the fastest in the age group. She scored 12 runs, drove in 12 runs and stole 16 bases while hitting .366)
Newcomers:
- Alyssa Dean (2025, OF/UT, a gifted athlete who can play anywhere except pitcher. She hit .368 with an HR, a 3B and two doubles in the fall. She drove in nine runs, scored 14 and stole 12 bases. She also spent some time playing with the 18 National team in the fall)
- Kaiya Delgado (2025, OF, Coach Sciara describes this kid as the second fastest in the organization behind Elle Smith, who won the 4th of July Fastest at the 4th. She stole 46 bases over 20 games in the fall, while scoring 40 runs. Offensively, she generated a .430 OBP and created havoc on the basepaths)
- Haley Platt (2026, 1B, a talented 6-footer with enormous potential. She just joined Top Gun over the winter)
- Kiersten Murkin (2026, C/IF/OF, a 5-foot-10 left hitter with athleticism and great length, which she uses tremendously both in the grass and on the dirt. She hit .294 with seven RBIs and potential that is off the charts)
- Rynn Richards (2026, OF/UT, a talented OF/C who possesses an elite arm for the age group. She’s already running low 60s in overhand velocity. She hit .294 with nine RBIs and has a tremendous ceiling)
What will it take for your team to be successful this year?
Continue to learn that we are competing with ourselves, looking to get 1 percent better as individuals and as a team each time we put that glove on and step across the lines. Focusing on the process and not the immediate outcome, as the results will follow the work.
Who is your No. 1 pitcher and can you describe her skills? Who are the other pitchers on your staff and can you describe their skills?
Syd Hemme (2026, P), Kelsie Donaldson, and Sydnee Wagner form a rare three-ace staff, who all complement each other well. All have hit personal bests in the last four months, while working closely with organizational pitching coach Randi Davis with Wagner touching 59 mph. Donaldson is a big lefty who will probably grow to be between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11 and spins it well. Hemme is a talented kid who also spins the ball well from the right side. Each of these kids possess all the levers and have incredible futures in front of them.

Can you describe your offense and what some of the strengths are?
Great power in the middle, book ended with outstanding speed. As a team, stole 132 bases over 20 games in the fall, averaging better than six a game. This led to the team putting up 128 runs or 6.4 per game. Kaiya Delgado is following in the footsteps of Elle Smith, #39 player in the Class of 2022, as she swiped 46 bases in just 20 games.
