EXTRA ELITE SPOTLIGHT: KENNEDY HARP
Florida State-committed CF Kennedy Harp, #11 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100, helped Mojo 2023-Lunsford win the 16U Alliance national championship this summer and she recently talked to Extra Inning Softball about her club team, what she brings to the team, getting stronger, the Alliance Nationals, Virginia Unity-Ross, business and dermatology, LeBron James, Shawty Lo, “It’s OKay to Not Be Okay” and drawing.

Honors: Offensive MVP (three years in a row); 1st Team All-County (three years in a row); Scholar Athlete (three years in a row); 1st Team All-State; Junior All-Star Team GACA (2021–2022); Super 6 (three years in a row); and Lady Lion award (2021).
Travel Ball Highlights/Summer Stats: .390 AVG, 15 HRs, 54 RBIs, 49 runs and 34 SBs.
Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? I was originally playing travel ball with GA Power and during that time I was being coached by Mike Lunsford in middle school and I also went to school with his daughters at Peachtree Ridge. I then joined Coach Mike’s travel team in 2019 under GA Impact and shortly after the team transitioned to Mojo.
What do you bring to the team? I feel like I bring power, speed, height and positive energy to the team.
What areas are you focusing on/trying to improve this fall? I’m focused (on) getting stronger and having more power behind each hit.
Can you tell us about your experience at Alliance Nationals this summer? My experience at Alliance this summer was amazing. We held each other up the whole tournament and gave everything we had each game. We all had a job to do and we had fun while doing it. We all have worked so hard and I am extremely grateful for my team and coaches.
Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? This summer, Virginia Unity-Ross was always a great opponent. They have good pitching combined with power at the plate.
What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I’m interested in Business or dermatology because when I was younger I loved trying new products for the skin and I would love to learn more about it. As for Business, I want to learn more about being an entrepreneur and maybe even going into Real Estate.
Who is your sports hero and why? My sports hero is LeBron James. He expresses his leadership qualities on and off the court. He helps others to become successful and his actions show how hard work and discipline pays off.
What’s the best hype song and why? The best hype song in my opinion is “Dey Know” by Shawty Lo, because the beat is hard and it’s one of those songs that give you a boost of serotonin.
What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? My favorite TV show to is “It’s Okay Not to Be Okay.” It’s very heartwarming and funny.
Do you have a secret talent/skill? I can draw. I had some drawings that (were) chosen for the Gwinnett County Art Gallery last year.
